in the arctic heat

——-

blanched and bleached white

crooked crossed branch, broken twig

shadow of a crow

——-

single hair alarm

licked lightly and placed on door

I learned from james bond

——-

this haughty workshop

murmured truths through acrid breath

better to daydream

And tonight, one of my favorite cover songs. The late, and so great, Charles Bradley (The Screaming Eagle of Soul) covering Nirvana’s Stay Away. He takes Kurt’s jagged guitars and snarls and tames them into something smokey smooth. He reshapes an angry youth’s anthem into a survivor’s story. I think both Kurt and Charles would still rather be dead than be uncool (I don’t know whyyyy…).

——-

Monkey see, monkey do

I don’t know why

I’d rather be dead than be uncool

I don’t know why

Until next time, stay safe out there
